Financial Relief for Acoma Tribal Homeowners

Who is eligible?

Qualifications vary by the type of assistance requested.

General eligibility requires that homeowners:

  • Are an enrolled Pueblo of Acoma tribal member.
  • Attest that they experienced financial hardship after January 21, 2020 associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Provide income documentation and have incomes equal to or less than 150% of the area median income or 100% of the median income for the U.S., whichever is greater.
  • Currently own and occupy a primary residence.

  • Utility Service Assistance
  • Homeowner Displacement Prevention Measures (Rehabilitation)

  1. COVID-19 Safe Practices for all Pueblo of Acoma Residents, the Pueblo of Acoma will allow tribal members, their spouses, significant others, extended relatives, and children, residing on and off Acoma tribal lands, to enter and exit the Pueblo. Social gatherings (indoor and outdoor) limited to 10 people maximum.
  2. Modified Closure of Acoma Tribal Government Operations and Acoma Business Enterprises, business with outside entities shall coordinate access for those external business representatives. Tribal Vendors are authorized to operate at a limited or reduced capacity with safety guidelines in place. Tribal buildings are open to the public for in-person business, with the safe practice of social distancing.
  3. Check Points and Road Closures, the only security checkpoint located below Old Acoma, shall remain in operation. A valid vaccination card and based on current COVID-19 numbers, a current (within 72 hours) negative COVID-19 test will be required to gain access to Old Acoma.
  4. Guidelines for Death of a Pueblo Member, burials and traditional wakes can resume without limited capacity unless death is caused by COVID-19.
  5. Cultural and Religious Activities, church services can resume at 50% occupancy with safety guidelines. All cultural activities will be determined by the cultural leadership of the Pueblo.
  6. COVID-19 Vaccinations, COVID-19 vaccinations are strongly encouraged for all Acoma Tribal Members, and non-Acoma Tribal Residents.
